I have done exactly as you mentioned. Some additional questions -

I do not want the datafields shown when the Login form is shown - In looking at doing conditional formatting, I have to set some conditions based on value in the field. when the Login Form is shown intially ithe fields Login/Password will not have values. So how do I hide these fields.

Run Query as a button will not allow me to add any actions - Like opening another Form. So how will I allow for navigating to other form when users have entered correct login/password.

I am a newbie , so please bear with my questions.

Thanks & Regards,

Rajeev.

Re: Login validation from Infopath to Access

Welcome Rajeev.

To start you would create a new form and select database as the type. You would browse to your database and the tbl_userlogin and create your primary data connection. This will give you a form which has both a query and Datafields section under main. To start, I would drag both all the query fields and all the data fields onto your form. Then you can preview and play with running queries and viewing the data returned. For your scenario I would have the user enter into the query fields for Username and password and then run the query. If the data fields are populated with the same information you have a match. You can then message the user or whatever functionality you need.

Good Luck.

Login validation from Infopath to Access

Hi All,

My fist post on this forum. Will appreciate your response.

I have created a Login Form with two text boxes - LoginID, Password. I have a button called Login. I have a Table in access called tbl_userlogin.

All I want to do is to validate the LoginID, Password entered on the form with the data for fields in the access database. If they match allow the user to proceed and access other areas in the application.

Not looking for capturing the user name from the network.

Thanks & Regards

Rajeev.
