The user off-line saves their updates into the secondary data source. You could also just add a copy feature to "backup" their changes into this secondary location, that would make the changes to your form pretty minimal.. When you submit for them you would query the DB for the record to be updated and then have a rule which copies their data from the secordary into the main data source, updating the record to be submitted and then submit.

If you are working with databases a lot you should check out the Database Accelerator Webservices Download. It makes working with databases much easier and removes the limitations of database type forms.

Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.0 - Developer

Edit record in Access without Querying

I have a form connected to an Access primary data source. I am trying to submit an edit to an existing record without first querying the database. I can add a new record or querying an existing record but when I query a record it overwrites whatever is already on the form.

Here's the situation:
I receive forms from our vendors who do not have access to our database. There are existing records in our database for each of the items that they are submitting. There is updated information on the form that I want to submit to the database. If I query the database first, then it overwrites the form data. If I don't query the database first, then it think I am trying to submit a new record and gives me an error saying that I can't submit b/c it is a duplicate value.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
