I actually didn't need to use the XTP method. I was able to simply save the form as source files and change the SOAP web service URL in the manifest.xsf. Since the previous years forms are still functioning I just needed to change it within since the Data Connection Wizard wasn't connecting anymore (for the SOAP web service).

Re: Is GetUserProfileByName via SOAP connection deprecated?

In another post on the same topic, I realized the qRules / FormsViewer piece of this template part is important, because it is used to change the connection URL! However, this will add the user profile data connection to a form (along with other things you likely won't need). After adding the XTP, you could save the form as source files and then change the URL in the manifest.xsf. Another option might be to manually add the data connection working with form files, but I think the XTP might be an easier route...

Re: Is GetUserProfileByName via SOAP connection deprecated?

Yes, unfortunately - the documentation on that is here: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/microsoft365dev/removal-of-deprecated-disco-wsdl-aspx-pages-from-sharepoint-online/ You can use the XTPs we have here: https://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/fv_samples_and_features/entry123896.aspx Please note that they use FormsViewer and qRules commands for the built in logic - but they also do add a GetUserProfileByName SOAP connection which you could simply re-use without configuring the template part. Hope that helps!

Is GetUserProfileByName via SOAP connection deprecated?

Does anyone know if Is GetUserProfileByName via SOAP connection is fully deprecated? Last year at this time I was able to create a new form and make a data (receive) connection with GetUserProfileByName, but this year I get the popup "InfoPath cannot find or cannot access the specified Web service description." I know Infopath will be fully retired on July 14, 2026, but was hoping to eke out one last form collection.
