The reason why InfoPath is not suited for reporting scenarios is as follows:
1) Performance is slow with large amounts of data. Specifically when trying to show it in the view.
2) Sorting is not straightforward.
3) Filtering is slow.

In limited situations where we want ot generate reports for InfoPath rich-text data stored in a DB we have created IP reports forms.

However, we strongly recommend using SQL Reporting Services, the new Analysis Services, or just Microsoft Excel which is very powerful and easy for end users. We use Excel connected to the DB for our internal reporting scenarios.

Re: Check feasiblity of Infopath solution for Reports

Hello Kamal,
InfoPath is not the right tool for reporting. You look for SQL reporting rather.

If the purpose is print, you can set "Header" and "Footer" at "View->Header and Footer->Print Settings".

Table Header cannot be repeated in every page in InfoPath.

Check feasiblity of Infopath solution for Reports

I need to generate a report using InfoPath having the following features. Kindly advise regarding the feasiblity

1. The report should allow a grid with variable number of rows
2. The report generated should allow report headers , page headers , grid table headers , and page footers to be printed on each and every page that has been generated
3. The report should allow the display and printing of the page numbers and the data grid header should be repeated for the grid starting from every page
4. Please provide pointers to solution to generate the repeatable table using a specific data source

Regards

Kamal
