Relinking updates the href in the InfoPath processing instructions in the XML (download an XML file, take a look in the text editor of your choice and you'll see the href). Warning - relinking ALSO changes the Modified date & Modified By - not a deal breaker for most people, but I have run into some who care. So - relink a single form, and verify things work as anticipated. If you set your content type to the default, when you click the New Document button, that will be used automatically - I usually make it my only content type. Another benefit of this is if you make major revisions, you can publish as a new content type, and all the existing forms will continue to use the old form (this can sometimes be a real PITA in InfoPath, when you want to make changes but don't want your existing XML to reflect those). I encourage you to set up a quick test form / libraries, and try some things outside of your production environment (I'm guessing all this is live, based on you having existing XML?) so that you have a little freedom to try some things without worrying about breaking production. :)

Re: Repeating table data connection settings remove on publish of form

Hi Hilary,

Thanks for the response. I tried to get the content type to work but I must have been doing something wrong as I couldn't get it to pull through when opening an existing form or a new one (I'd enabled the content types in both libraries and published as such also).

I've managed to publish into both libraries now but am having to reconfirm the data connections through the wizard whilst they're still active, save then publish to get it to keep the settings.

Any content type help would be appreciated if you have the chance please?

Thanks again

Re: Repeating table data connection settings remove on publish of form

Oh that is weird. I would probably compare the manifest files - you can save the form as source files, or rename from XSN to CAB to access source files, and compare the manifest.xsf in the form where the fields are properly selected and the one where they are not. Data connections aren't being updated on publish are they? Since you are publishing to the same site for both libraries? I'd also wonder about publishing to two libraries - maybe it would make more sense to publish as a content type and use that content type in both libraries?

Re: Repeating table data connection settings remove on publish of form

screen shot attached

Repeating table data connection settings remove on publish of form

Hi all,

Having a really frustrating time with an InfoPath 2010 repeating table data connection.

I have a form published, working fine, with 3 repeating tables on different sheets of the form that relate to the data that needs to be pulled into the RT.

The data connection is linked to a separate SharePoint 2013 library in the same space where the form is published to two libraries, works fine on first publish but the data connection columns (tick boxes in the screen shot) drop out after I publish the form to the second library (or a second time in the same library). I've added the screen shot to illustrate what I mean.

Am I missing something really simple here? Any help would be great as I don't seem to be able to sort this myself.

Thanks
