I don't have any experience with CRM online but most things seem to work easier from InfoPath client than browser enabled forms that I normally use.

I believe the API is dependent on which version of CRM you are using.

I would try to get some REST queries working from a browser and then try adding a similar data connection to your InfoPath form.

The base syntax for CRM 2013 is

[Your Organization Root URL]/XRMServices/2011/OrganizationData.svc

You should be able to add the root url to your online CRM to the above and get something back from a browser.

I want to connect my InfoPath form to receive MS Dynamics CRM info too. I have my InfoPath form. Anyplace I can get step by step guidance to make the connection? In my case, all users have InfoPath client on their desktop. Using MS Dynamics CRM online, not on-premise.

Did several things to get this to work:

Converted Data Connection to a udcx file
Downloaded and edited the udcx file

just below </udc:UpdateCommand> inserted

<udc:Authentication>
<udc:SSO AppId='CRMconnection' CredentialType='Negotiate'/>
</udc:Authentication>

in udcx file removed everything after the ? but before close of the tag.. on the line below (Not sure if this matters... I will do more testing and report back)

<udc:Query>https://crm.mydomain.com/SEI/xrmservices/2011/OrganizationData.svc/AccountSet?</udc:Query>

uploaded the udcx file and replaced existing file.

Set up Secure Store Service for new target app called CRMconnection in Central Admin under Manage Service Apps (Secure Store Service Appl)

Target ApplicationID: CRMconnection
Display Name: CRMconnection
Target App Type: Group

Set Credentials on above target app to "All Users (windows)"
Turned on InfoPath Forms Services Web Service Proxy in Central Admin

Enabled both checkboxes

It needs to be a UDCX for sure. So - are you specifying credentials in the UDCX?

Ok, I always forget about firewalls. I cleared up the firewall issues but now I get a 401 error. I have several REST web service calls on this form. All of the calls to SharePoint work fine. My REST Web Service calls to CRM all fail with a 401 error. I have tried a data connection using and not using a udcx. What's required to connect to a non-SharePoint Web Service? Maybe my credentials are not getting passed to crm correctly?

The following query failed: CRMrestNoUDCX (User: 0#.w|mydomain\myuserid, Form Name: DocMarking2, IP: , Connection Target: , Request: https://sharepoint.mydomain.com/forms/dm/_layouts/FormServer.aspx?XsnLocation=https://sharepoint.mydomain.com/forms/FormServerTemplates/DocMarking2.xsn&SaveLocation=https://sharepoint.mydomain.com/forms/dm/Forms2&ClientInstalled=true&Source=https://sharepoint.mydomain.com/forms/dm/Forms2/Forms/AllItems.aspx&DefaultItemOpen=1, Form ID: urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:infopath:DocMarking2:-myXSD-2015-11-12T14-15-04 Type: DataAdapterException, Exception Message: The form cannot run the specified query. I have set up a REST Web Service connection to Microsoft CRM but it fails connecting to the CRM server.

Both SharePoint and SharePoint are using claims based authentication. In Central Admin, I have "Require SSL for HTTP authentication to data sources" and "Allow cross-domain data access for user form templates..." checked.

The errors in the ULS logs are:

Cannot find site lookup info for request Uri https://crm.mydomain.com/SEI/xrmservices/2011/OrganizationData.svc/AccountSet?$select=Name,new_branchid,new_fundingtypeid,ModifiedBy,ModifiedOn,OwnerId,new_UserNumber,StateCode,VersionNumber&$filter=new_UserNumber+eq+92.

The above query works fine when I paste it into a browser.

Do connections to "External" sites require that I convert the data connection to a Connection File?

In Central Admin, should I be enabling the InfoPath Forms Services Web service proxy?
