Save the template locally (don't overwrite the one you are working on, of course) and then right click to open in design mode.

Re: Help with Multiple Department data connections:

Oooh, just realized something else too - in your submit rules you set the status to Pending - so isn't that getting reset every time they actually submit? It gets set to Approve, then when they click the Submit button it goes back to Pending?

And you have a rule on the SubmitStatus field that resubmits the form - that may be the submit you are seeing back to the original library?

Re: Help with Multiple Department data connections:

Okay - so for your Submit button - that button is set as "Submit", not "Rules and Custom Code" - so it runs the rules you have in the Form Submit rules - which are all those rules that send the form to the right department library. Oh - I just noticed your warning at the bottom of the form - Honestly, I'd just copy those submit rules to the Approve and Deny buttons so the user doesn't have to be counted on to hit two buttons (or I'd change Approve / Deny to something other than a button, so you don't need to warn them).

At any rate, right now if they click the Approve button, it will set the submit status to Approved and then hide the submit button? Or are you then using the "Submit" button in the ribbon after clicking Approve or Deny?

Your "CNY" data connection has the formula entered directly in the filename field - so it isn't getting evaluated. Actually - most of your submit connections have this error. You'll want to put that concat statement in the formula editor dialog.

Re: Help with Multiple Department data connections:

Hi Hilary, thanks for your prompt reply. When the form is approved and resubmitted, it loses it's file name and shows as: "concat(EmployeeName_ ____ FirstDayofET_ ____ Department).xml" but the filename formating works fine on the first submit.

So I've created a Vacation Request form for my department, with many sub departments, each with their own supervisor who'd approve these forms.

I've created a standard Submit button which sends the form to each departments Form Library in Sharepoint.

The trouble is: once I created the Approve/Deny buttons (using rules and custom codes), the same data connections don't work the same. Even though the rules are the same, instead of sending the form to each departments Form Library, it sends it to the main published form library. Sure, it changes the status to "approved" but the requests in each departments library remains there as Pending. Also, if this helps: when it's approved and uploaded to the main published form library, it loses it's concat formatting.

This is holding up my process, and any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Cheers,
Derek
