For anyone interested, the 2 expressions that made this work properly were:
-my:budgetCode = preceding-sibling::my:budgetCodes/my:budgetCode
-my:budgetCode = ../preceding-sibling::my:lines/my:budgetCodes/my:budgetCode

Re: Summarizing nested repeating sections

Try this one - I added another condition on your summary table.

a screenshot of the problem in "action"

I didn't realize I could only attach 1 image per post - here's the screenshot...

Summarizing nested repeating sections

Hello,

I'm so close to getting this working but have 1 problem I can't quite figure out. In a nutshell I have a requirement to summarize the budget codes and amounts used on a request. I've followed Hillary's guidance in this post (http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/p/20829/72142.aspx) to wire everything up needed to get a "group by"-like summary of data entered in a nested repeating section. In the summary view I can't figure out how to hide the duplicate Budget Code rows.

I've attached a sample of my form to help explain the issue. When you add another row in the 'lines' section you'll notice that the redundant budget code rows don't hide so it shows 2 rows with the same budget code (but the total is correctly calculated - thanks Hillary!).

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!
