There's some good info there for sure. qRules--unfortunately--wasn't an option in this instance.

In any case, the problem wasn't something the end user noticed...just something the developer--a coworker--was unhappy with (and I was attempting to help sort out). Since the client was OK with it as we left it, we decided to drop it. Still bugs me, though, that I couldn't sort out some alternative way to relay the information--and allow editing easily. :(

Re: Unchecking item in 1st multi select list when same item checked in 2nd multi select list

Hi RayBoone and welcome!

Two techniques that we webinar often are

CAML

qRules

Both assume your form is a full-fledged InfoPath form mapping to your SharePoint list.

Check out my webinar from July 4th: http://youtu.be/NRjRYtcR8Gw

Re: Unchecking item in 1st multi select list when same item checked in 2nd multi select list

I had second thoughts about doing it this way and am instead trying to implement a repeating table for the list. The table has two columns, one add, one remove. It works fine (concatenating from the repeating table into text boxes). I have the mutually exclusive bit working, but now I have the problem of not having the boxes checked if the form is opened in Edit mode. I have a model working that isn't tied to a SharePoint list (based on a sample from this very forum), but can't seem to apply the same solution to the list.

What I'm looking for is something like this:

Options Add Remove

Charger X

Phone case X

Car Charger X

The options list can be any length (it's fed from another SharePoint list). Users should be able to choose to add or remove (but not both) any item on the list (I have this part working). It's also possible for a user to change the request before it's complete. In this case, the form comes up in edit mode and all the same rules apply, but the previously selected changes should be reflected on the form.

Does anyone have thoughts as to how I might accomplish this without code?

Unchecking item in 1st multi select list when same item checked in 2nd multi select list

Hi everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster...

I have a change request form tied to a SharePoint list. On the form I would like to be able to select to add or remove items from a lookup column in the list. The change could be add two items from the list, remove a third item from the list. I currently have two multi-select list boxes populated with the same list of items--one for items to add, one for items to remove. This set up works OK, but allows the user to add and remove the same item. I've experimented with rules and been able to trigger one list to uncheck ALL items if a currently checked item is selected in the second list. What I'd like is a set up where checking the same item in the second list unchecks ONLY the corresponding item in the first list. After a bunch of reading, I'm suspecting the multi-select list may not be the way to do what I want. Does anyone have ideas as to how I could accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you might have.

Ray
