By setting the default value of the field that my drop down was bound to I was able to set the default text. With a quick formatting rule to emulate the grey text color this worked perfectly. I wouldn't call it ideal, but it gets the job done.

Is there a way to actually have the expression box in front of or behind the drop down list control - that would be ideal but I can't seem to figure out how to do it...

I'm building a form in InfoPath 2010 and am trying to figure out how to get placeholder text, like what you can do with a textbox control, in a drop-down list box control that's bound to a data connection. Any suggestions or is this just not possible?

Thanks!
