I hadn't considered using a "rule" to complete that action but it worked! thank you for the help. the reference material (links) were fantastic to help me wrap my head around the concept.

Does that make sense? Here's a link to a little blog post on this.

Repeating table issue

My form includes multiple repeating tables two of which use a common data connection to populate data. I also have a built in field that pulls an associative data point (this is used to calculate yet another data point in another section of the form). when the form gets filled out and the drop down field (field 1) is populated (on the first of the repeating table lines line 1) the associated field (field 2) populates correctly as it is associated. When additional lines are added things go south a little. when the data is selected from the drop down (field 1, line 2) the associated field (field 2, line 2) populates based on what was chosen for (field 1, line1 and subsequent display value of field 2, line 1). Can anyone help me with a way to isolate/separate/differentiate each line or just with a way to make line 2 not populate data based on line 1? I am thinking it has to be simpler than me building multiple data sources that show the same information.

It could be important that i have an incremental line number identity built such that each line built the number increments accordingly.
