Is there at least a way to catch the users input and try to validate it?

I setup a hidden field for each multiple selection box and then I found another thread here which contained a formula which will write the checked values -- > substring(eval(eval(DeploymentPrefs[. != ""], 'concat(";", .)'), ".."), 2)

The above works and whenever you check a value it writes it to the field containing that formula. Then I created other text fields that I want to be hidden unless the user selects wrong values. For example if they select Workstation in Deployment Preference but not Windows 7 in Target OS I want the warning message to become visible otherwise it should be hidden. I can only get the rule to work with 1 or 2 combinations of possible mismatched selections but there are too many and I can't figure out how to setup the rules. For example I have one rule that says if DeplPref does not contain "Workstation" OR TargetOS does not contain "Server" then hide the control (text box with the warning about mismatch). Problem is there are too many combinations...

Here are some possible combinations:

If Deployment Pref = Workstation then Target OS must contain Windows 7 (any of the 2)

If Deployment Pref = Servers, and/or, and/or Autosys then Target OS must contain Server (any of the 4)

If Deployment Pref = Workstation AND Servers and/or Citrix and/or Autosys then Target OS must contain Windows 7 (any of the 2) AND Server (any of the 4)

Re: InfoPath2010 - Multiple Selection Control - Setting values using Rules

Hi- the issue is that when a user selects an item in a multiselect, a new instance of a repeating node is added and its value is set. When the item is deselected, the instance is removed. Since InfoPath doesn't offer any out of the box rule based method to insert or delete repeating nodes, the multiselect is tricky.

InfoPath2010 - Multiple Selection Control - Setting values using Rules

Hello all. I am new to this form and looking to see if there is a way to set values of multiple selection control in InfoPath 2010 using rules only - no code. I have tried searching on this forum and online and couldnt find a solution.

My form has the following multiple selection controls:

Platform:
[] Workstation
[] Server
[] Citrix
[] Autosys

OS:
[] Windows 7 32 Bit
[] Windows 7 64 Bit
[] Windows 2008 Server 32 Bit
[] Windows 2008 Server 64 Bit
[] Windows 2003 Server 32 Bit
[] Windows 2003 Server 64 Bit

What I want is that when someone checks 'Workstation' in Platform, Windows 7 32 Bit should get enabled. If Server or Citrix is selected then Windows 2008 Server 32 Bit should get selected in the OS section. If Workstation and Server or Citrix or Autosys is selected in Deployment Preference then Windows 7 and Windows 2008 Server should get selected under OS.

I can't figure out how to do this.
Seems like the multiple selection control is the most difficult to work with when it comes to rules.

Is what I want to do even possible?
