I extensively modified an existing form that had a sort function. I want to unlock fields to add a repeating table (added it but the data gets duplicated so I am not binding in correctly?). I am not sure if I am going about it the right way. I would consider myself one step up from an InfoPath begineer. I am not sure how to save as source files or edit the schema. I am using InfoPath 2010.

Re: What is the proper procedure to edit a locked data field?

Hi - if your form was based off an existing schema, unlocking is challenging, and my blog post on IP 2007 would still be relevant. It may be easier to simply add the fields to the schema via text editor (again after saving as source files). If your form is bound to a database or a web service, the scenario is a bit different.

How many fields do you need to add? What does your schema look like in the data source task pane?

What is the proper procedure to edit a locked data field?

I am editing an existing form that is part of a workflow in SP 2010 environment and I need to add a few more fields & controls. However, the Main fields (mFields) are locked. How do I go about editing this form and adding the new fields and controls?

I have scoured the web and have only found an old post from Hilary Stoupa on this site, which talks about saving the form as a source file and editng the xsd. This seems to pertain to InfoPath 2007 so not sure this would work on what I am trying to do. It also seems to me a round-about way of being able to edit an existing form. I can't believe Microsoft has made it this difficult to edit an existing form - then again, it might just be my lack of advanced features of InfoPath.

At any rate, I would be most grateful for any assistance as I am under the gun to get this done this week. Much obliged.
