I haven't tried it in a browser form but this would work in a filler form. In you dropdown column, if you have the dropdown and a textbox. To start with, the textbox is hidden. When a user selects a value, you copy the selected value in the textbox, hide the dropdown and remove the value from the list. If you're use wants to change his mind, you may want to make your textbox read-only and add an ellipsis button so that you can move the textbox value back to the dropdown and toggle the visibility on both controls...

Just an idea...

Re: Dropdown in a repeating section - Insert new item allowed.

Thanks for replying. I appreciate.Unfortunately though, that is not the problem at hand. I will to try to explain it differently.

The scenario is like this. I have a dropdown and a textbox in a repeating table. You can think of it like a dropdown and a textbox in a datagrid (in an asp.net web page). Only one row is shown by default. There is a button that allow users to add a new row to the repeating table (the new row contains a dropdown and a textbox again) for more user inputs. Now what I I want is that if the user has selected some value in the dropdown in row 1 then he should not be able to see the same value in the dropdown in row 2. So on and so forth. So what I want is a contracting dropdown as more and more rows are added. I hope you get it now.

I want this for a browser enabled infopath 2007 form.

Re: Dropdown in a repeating section - Insert new item allowed.

I don't really understand your problem, but if you want your dropdown to hide the same values in the section, then open yor form in design view, right click on the dropdown list and select properties. On the bottom of the properties window, you should see a checkbox "Show only entries with unique display names". Make sure it is checked, then click OK. Now you should see only unique values in the dropdown. Say the values you had were: 1,2,2,2,3,4,4,4,4; and your dropdown was showing everything too, now it should only show 1,2,3,4. I hope this helped. If you have more questions, I'll be happy to help. I don't know a lot about infopath though, I'm also a suffering newbie.

Dropdown in a repeating section - Insert new item allowed.

Hello

I have a dropdown and a text box in a repeating section. I want to allow users to add new sections. However, what I dont want is users selecting same values in the dropdown for inserted sections. To sum up, I would like only unique values to be selected in the dropdowns. Can this be achieved without using code? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Edit: This is for infopath 2007 browser enabled form.
