have more than one drop down, and write a rule on all of them to update some other field say fieldx and promote fieldx. that would solve the problem and for the confusion part you can have a document it.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that is the best solution. It may be alright while I am the only one designing the forms. But if someone else comes along to work on the same form, they will have no idea what is going on.

Plus, the field in question also get promoted to the workflow. Which would add even more confusion.

Instead of going through all this, you can do one more thing create more than one dropdowns (with different items) and show/hide them depending on who is supposed to view what

Can you tell me how, or point me in the right direction. Everyting I have seen uses xml files, which I do not beleive is appropriate here.

conditional filling of drop down is possible only through code.

Hi Qazi,

I have just been informed that there is more criteria that determines what is in the drop down, This is an example:

If Name = Fred, dropdown = Oranges, Lemons

If Name = Mary, dropdown = Apples, Limes

Is this possible, and if so how?

go to the first view and in the properties of list box add up entries you want to appear for this view

go to the second view and in the properties of list box add up entries you want to appear for this view

I have the control on both views but do not know how to change the contents, depending on where I am. Can you supply more details if possible.

yes it is possible, just you will have to have the control on both the views and change the list box entries

Is it possible under certain conditions to alter the contents of a drop down control? I need to do the following:

If the user is on view 1, I want the drop down to contain, “Oranges”, “Pears” and “Apples”.

If however they are on view 2, I want the drop down to only contain, “Pears” and “Apples”.
