I have a below requirement & need you assistance here:

Q) Need to validate IP Address in multiline of text

Example:

225.225.225.1

225.225.225.6

225.225.224.8

225.225.225.4

Action Taken) I have used following formula (25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|[01]?[0-9][0-9]?)\.(25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|[01]?[0-9][0-9]?)\.(25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|[01]?[0-9][0-9]?)\.(25[0-5]|2[0-4][0-9]|[01]?[0-9][0-9]?)

This is working fine for very first entry but for next ertry it will not work !

Please suggest me how to achieve this

Thanks in Advance :)

I'm looking for a similar solution as the original post is. As my search continues, my confidence runs low.

Re: Multiline text boxes

Thanks, this might be my only option but I am just not sure how many characters to limit them to. It depends if the have caps lock on and some characters are bigger than others. I thought there would be other people that have forms that have to look identical to the hard copy and so there would be an easier way. This form has to look exact. It can't print out bigger or have scroll bars.

And actually, you wouldn't need to use data validation at all -- although that would be nice for your users, so they can see why they can't type anymore -- but you can just set a limit under the text box properties, at the bottom of the display tab. You can add data validation to the field -- the condition would be that the field does not match the pattern .{0,250} for example, if 250 was the maximum characters you wanted to allow.

Re: Multiline text boxes

It might but I am not sure exactly how to do that. How would I find out how many characters could fit in a multiline text box. Also can you give me the steps to do it using data validation. I am not sure if I am doing it correctly.
