If so, add the desired default value to that data source. If not, add the desired default value to the list of options manually added to the control.

Haven't noticed that Default Value could be set for items from SharePoint list too..

Sounds like your default value isn't one of the options in the dropdown? Do your dropdown options come from a secondary data source? If so, add the desired default value to that data source. If not, add the desired default value to the list of options manually added to the control.

Hello,

I have the same problem, I tried to set the Default value as you explained, unfortunately, It is not working.

The default value is displayed well by opening the form, but by clicking any item of the dropdownlist control then the defult value disapears and the other items remains.

The requirements is to display the default value allways and it must remains even after clicking any other item.

Please, I need your help.

It is appreciated to send me the required code (If needed).

Hi and welcome to forums,

The drop down adds a blank row automatically if the data is coming from secondary data connection.

You cannot remove the blank value from dropdown. But you can set the default value to show the xml value instead of blank value. In this case blank value will be displayed in the dropdown but by default first value will be selected when you open new form.

a. Double click on dropdown field in the data source.

b. Select Fx button for Default value.

c. Select Insert field or group.

d. Select secondary xml from data source.

e. Select "value" and click on ok.

Hi,

I have a dropdownlist whose datasource is web service. A blank item gets added along with the other item even though the source doesn't contain the blank item. The same doesn't happen when the items are added manually. Why is a blank item added and how can I remove the blank item?
