When I use this technique I get the following error message maybe every 7 to 10 submits:

InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
The form cannot be submitted to the following location: http://portal:1844/C5/C4/PRGMIS/PRG_Milestones/Access to H & F Education.xml
The site may be offline, read-only, or otherwise unavailable.
Unspecified error

The info will submit to the database but the form wont save.

Have you ever seen this before?

Thanks again

Re: How to save a form when pressing submit...

Thanks Hilary, you're a gem. That worked fine.

Here is what those errors say to me -- first, that the location you've defined for the form to submit to (looks like a SharePoint submit) is incorrect. I'd expect not to see the '/Forms/AllItems.aspx' on that URL. Try modifying that submit connection to point just to the library.

I'm curious about the second error occuring when you use a field on the form.... any field? a field with a submit rule on it? Just using a field shouldn't cause the form to submit unless you have a rule set to do that.... It looks like @ProjectID is required and doesn't hae a value from that error.

Re: How to save a form when pressing submit...

Hi Hilary, I know it's been while and I told you I'd let you know how I got on... I've just tried it and I get the error

InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
The form cannot be submitted to the following location: http://portal:1844/C5/C4/PRGMIS/PRG_Milestones/Forms/AllItems.aspx
The folder does not exist.

Plus, when I use a field on the form I get this error:

InfoPath cannot submit the form.
An error occurred while the form was being submitted.
One of the required values for submitting the form is missing. The value is created using the following XPath expression: dfs:queryFields/q:msdbProjects/@ProjectID

If you know the value in the form that specifies this value, revise it and try again.

Have you seen these before? Hope you can help me a little more

Thanks

You could use code, but you can also modify your submit options to use rules. Then, in the rules, the first action could be "Submit using a data connection" and you could use your main data connection that submits to the DB. You could then add a submit data connection to your SharePoint site, and add another action to your submit rules to submit the form to the SharePoint Library. That one one button click does it all!

Let me know if you need more details, okay?

How to save a form when pressing submit...

Hi there, Hope everyone's well.

I've got a quick question. I've created a form library in SharePoint and staff fill out an InfoPath form, from a template, and there are two steps after they've finished. They have to press the submit button to enter the values into the database and then they have to save the form into the library.

I was wondering if could miss step two and when users press the submit button it also saves the form into the form library.

Does anyone know of a way to do this? Maybe there's some code out there I could use?

Thanks in advance for any help I receive.
