I have some decent experience with Access, SQL Server, VB6/VB.NET, ASP.NET but am new to IP. What I would like to do is have a form that the user can fill out with your typical data entry points as well as Photos and Digital Ink (sketches and maybe signatures) created using a Tablet PC. I see IP 2003 has controls for this but what I cant quite figure out is if the data entered in these controls can be stored completely in an Access Database.

If I create, for example, a Ink Picture Control on the form, IP will create its own internal data field for it which I assume is stored in some internal XML file. But if I try to point it at an Access Table BLOB field, it gives me an error saying that it has to be pointed at a non-repeating field with a picture data type. The same can be said about using a File Attachement Control.

Does this mean that InfoPath will NOT work with an Access BLOB field?

Thanks

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by dynamically adding an image -- but the sample here demonstrates how to copy an attachment out of a form to store elsewhere (this example uses SharePoint) and this link from Microsoft explains how to encode / decode base64 (which is what images and file attachements are stored as in an IP form).

Hope that helps!

Dynamically adding images to InfoPath forms

Has anyone worked on dynamically adding an image to an image control / rich text box control in InfoPath form?

Following are the requirements:

a. The image data is saved into the database in BLOB format (electronic signatures)

b. No physical file should be created / saved onto the machine

Any pointers to this issue would be of great help.
