So yes you would want to make your own reset button or add rules to the submit to clear the fields you want after submitting the current data. Another option is to seed your database query with a value that will return nothing, maybe 0 or something and run the query again which will give you blank values, essentially reseting that part of the data.

If you are working with a database and really want to leverage its power you should check out the Database Accelerator. Qdabra Database Accelerator Suite Version 2.1 - Developer Web Services remove the limitations so you can query and submit as many tables as you want and be able to report on all of your fields or integrate with another application.

Function of "New Record" button

I have worked through one text book and can't figure out how to make my form work the way I need it to.

I have a contact tracker form with fixed info for who the contact person is. I have a repeating section for recording contact details for each contact instance. I want these 2 items to remain in the form when I save it.

I then have a repeating section for inputing an action item and submitting it to a Access data base. The action item is the only data linked to the data base. This way I can track action items in my data base from multiple contact tracker forms.

It all works well except when I use the "New Record" button to clear the action item input section so I can add a new action item. Instead of clearing just the data that is connected to the data base it clears the whole form including the contact info and contact instance details that I want to remain constant for each form.

My question: Is there any way to clear just the data input section that will be submitted to the data base and leave other form data in place?

Any help or sugestions would be appreciated even if its just to direct me to a resource.
