I need help with the Contact Selector control. I am working on a machine with Windows Server 2003 and Office Enterprise 2007 and WSS 3.0. When I go to add the Contact Control to InfoPath, I don't see it in the ActiveX list of controls. Is it because I'm on Server 2003? I did see one article that states it can be found in Office Professional 2007. But, I would think if it is in Office Professional it should also be in Enterprise. Any suggestions on where to find it or how to install it onto my machine would be appreciated.

thanks for your reply. The problem was not in my datasource, but rather in the way I added the ContactSelector control to the control toolbox in Infopath. For selector to work this way, when you're adding the ActiveX to Custom controls, this is the way to go:

1. choose "ActiveX Control" and select "Contact selector" from the list
2. choose "Do not include .cab file", then choose "Value" for binding property

3. This is the crucial step: For field and group type, choose "Field or group (any data type)" and select text for data type

Hope this helps to someone.

This control is very picky about the schema structure and exactly what you bind it to. It is common that if a control isn't bound probably InfoPath will disable it in the view. In this case it doesn't realize it is not bound correctly until it tries to write the data out. I know how frustrating this can be, but I suggest scrutinizing the article again and verifying your bindings.

I created identical datasource to the (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms558892.aspx) article. When I enter the name into the contact selector (while previewing the form in infopath) and click on the 'check names' button the contact selector gets disabled (grey). If I click on the left 'Adress book' button on the contact selector, I am able to find any user I want, but when I add them and click OK, contact selector disables again. While previewing the form on Sharepoint, everything is the same, except that contact selector does not disable, but i rather get the error saying that something is wrong with my datasource and that instead of 'Person' node it expects 'person' node?! But my node in the datasource is 'person', not 'Person'. Any suggestions?
