I just let my field be promoted as a number. Then in my SharePoint list I just made a calculated column that is equal to that field and formatted as currency. Annoying to have 2 columns just to fix the display, but it's easy enough and it works.

Re: Publishing currency symbol

Your InfoPath form is simply taking the decimal number and applying some formatting to it. If you look at the XML only the number will be stored there, not the currency symbol and field seperators.

One suggestion would be to have another, seperate, field that applies and stores the formatting to the currency as a string so that when you promote this property to SharePoint all of the formatting would be there. However, you might have to use a little bit of code to get the formatting exactly right.

Publishing currency symbol

I have a field on my form that sums the value of two decimal fields formatted as currency. The sum field is also formatted as currency but when I publish that field to a SharePoint portal, the value is just a decimal number, I lose the currency designation. For instance, when the form is saved with a value of $45,678.90 in the summed field, the SharePoint portal only shows the digits 45678.90 and I lose the currency symbol and the value separators (commas).

Can't I post the data with the currency symbols?
