A colleague showed me a trick to find out what the validation error was. He had me load the form and then attempt to 'Save As'. When the dialogue box came up, he clicked 'No' and then presented another dialogue box where he could click on the 'Show Details' and that actually displayed what the error was. It turned out I had two fields set to come in as integers when they needed to be doubles. I would have never known with the way Infopath is setup.

Re: Cannot Submit Form - Contains Validation Errors?

Do you use this form in Filler or the Browser? I would download an existing XML file and preview the file in design mode - with your template open in InfoPath designer, under File > Advanced Options (form options) go to the Preview category. Browse to your downloaded XML file. Preview the form, then use the shortcut Ctrl + shift + O (letter O there) for go to next error. If the field with the error isn't on the form, you'll get a dialog box that has a details button - click that to find out what field is invalid.

Cannot Submit Form - Contains Validation Errors?

I'm working on a complex form to submit information requests through our company. On one of the views (USER_BADI), the user can submit new information or edit existing information. If new (Action = "Add"), the form submits without issue. If edit (Action = "Edit"), when the user clicks submit, the form does not submit and says that there is a validation error. The only validations in the form are set to occur when the form is in a certain status (of which the form is not in when the user is submitting an edit request) and there are no required fields in the form. To me, this indicates there is an issue in one of the actions associated with submitting an edit request.

On submission of an edit request, the the form:

- Sets a new FormStatus (successfully set when submit button is clicked);
- Sets a new FormID (successfully set when submit button is clicked);
- Appends a SubmissionStatus log (successfully set when submit button is clicked); and
- Associates a user ID with a user name selected

The form then submits to the library and closes. No other actions should take place.

I for the life of me cannot figure out what validation is not being met. I'd appreciate any insight!
