Drop-Down List Box - displaying selected item

Hi,

I am developing a form for SharePoint 2013 online using InfoPath Designer 2013. The form contains a number of Drop-Down List boxes, each of which provides a list of tasks with descriptions, as follows:

C - Configure system

E - Execute system

T - Terminate system

D - Down time

When the user clicks on the Drop-Down, the list is displayed as follows (i.e. task identifier abbreviation along with description)

C - Configure system

E - Execute system

T - Terminate system

D - Down time

Once the user has selected the item from the drop-down list, then I would like the drop-down control to then simply display the task identifier abbreviation without the description, i.e. C, E, T or D.

I have so far been unable to find a means of achieving this in InfoPath Designer 2013. Any advice on how this might be achieved much appreciated.
