Searching in a Repeating Section

For submission validation, I want to be able to test all occurrences of a repeating section to see if any meet a certain criteria: for example, do any of the dropdowns not have a selection, or do any numeric fields have a negative value. The best I've come up with is: count(xdXDocument:get-DOM()/my:myFields/my:Item[current()/my:Item_Name != ""]) count(xdXDocument:get-DOM()/my:myFields/my:Item[current()/my:Item_Quantity

Submit button - Error on Validation

Hi All,

I have a submit button on my form and when I click on it to submit the form, I am getting below error:

The form cannot be submitted because it contains validation errors. Errors are marked with either a red asterisk (required fields) or a red, dashed border (invalid values).

I verified many times and I am not able to find the error..Anyway, I want to submit the form, even though it has errors. Is there anyway to do that? I don't need any validation to submit the form.

Please advise.

How to save a current login user Name into sharepoint list on form submiting?

i am working on already existing app that is not migrated to power apps.

I have sharepoint lit with preparedby -single line text and approvedby person field column

on form submission I want to save: preparedby and approvedby the name of the current loggedin user.

I tried to use userName() on set fields value, but it always insert in the format of : i:0#.f|membership|myemail@site.com

How can I format the userName() to give me name of the user.

Picture control reducing image quality?

Hi! I am currently experimenting with the Picture Control. It seems to me, when I compare the size of the attached jpeg file with the size of the form instance xml document, that the image size/quality is reduced when attached to the form. Is it possible to have the picture attached without reducing its quality? Thanks for any help!

Delete blank row in dropdownlist

Hi,

I have a dropdownlist whose datasource is web service. A blank item gets added along with the other item even though the source doesn't contain the blank item. The same doesn't happen when the items are added manually. Why is a blank item added and how can I remove the blank item?

Hide / Unhide based on contents of Multiple fields

Hi, Hope you all are keeping well! I am trying to make a button unhide only if 4 boxes are ticked yes. I have set up conditional rules using the if x does not = x AND if x does not = x......... but once just one of the boxes is ticked yes then the button unhides. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Person/Group Picker control not rendering in Infopath 2013

In the last few days my person/group picker control does not render at all on an existing for OR if I attempt to insert it in a new form. It appears as a broken image link might (See image 1) however it does insert a corresponding group and relative fields in the Fields area.

Internally we are on a crusade to secure our systems and patch them quite frequently. Evidently something has broken this control or it's dependencies but I have no idea where to start.

I did look at this information ( People Picker field embedded in Office documents does not show "Add People" dialog box ) however I'm not sure if this is even relative to the issue if the control doesn't render.

If I right-click on where the control should be in the form it does display a people picker dialog however the dialog only contains three tabs - Data, Size, Advanced - and is missing the SharePoint Server and General tabs.

If anyone can shed any light on this issue or a fix, it would be much appreciated.

Dropdown list - conditional formating

Hello I am a new starter on InfoPath and i would like to ask for help I have a dropdown list with 10 options. This list comes from a secondary data source in sharepoint I would like to create a conditional formatting which works after the user selected a particular option, the colour changed to "green" for example. Is there a way to do that?

Making a multi select list box read only

I'm trying to make a multi select list box read only upon a trigger from another field, however when I try publish the form (its a SharePoint browser form) I keep getting the SOAP error as follows

The SOAP response indicates that an error occured on the server:
Server was unable to process request--> Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

My condition is when a particular date field is not blank , rule type = formatting , then disable control of the multi select list box field.
However it lets me hide the control instead and that works so is there an InfoPath constraint here?
I really need to keep visibility of the field on the form so the users can see the original errors and correct them, so hiding the field is not ideal.
The multi select list box field is receiving data from another sharepoint list as it's source for available selections in the multi select list, might this be a factor?

Need to see entire file attachment name

Using the File Attachment field, this is what I get in FV when I attach “ACE BUSINESS CONSULTING INC – Agr and Docs.pdf”:

But I’d like something closer to what is displayed in Preview:

Or at least I’d like to be able to display the entire filename in a separate field. I haven’t figured out how to get that information once the attachment has been made and I cannot make the field wider so it displays the entire file name.

Any ideas?

Merging Different Forms With Repeating Tables, New Column Is Un-Editable

Hi,

Using InfoPath 2013, I have a form which I want to use the merge form function in File >> Share, to bring data from a different form.

This is working due to taking the same template and then adding another column into the expanding tables and uploading the form as a new title.

The problem I have is that the new column which is not being populated with data becomes in-editable. Is there a way to allow this be edited to input further data without code?

If I manually put the data in the field works fine. only rows that have been merged do not.

Hiding the date picker in InfoPath 2007?

Hi,

I can't seem to select "Hide this control" in the date picker field for conditional formatting?! How do I do this? The conditional format is "if column 1 is "in progress", then blank....

Assistance is greatly appreciated. It looks really dorky when I just choose to black out the date picker.

Use rule to select multiple choices on multi-choice field

Is there a way to set multiple choices in a multi-choice choice field. If field1 equals "Yes" for instance I want field 2 to have Choice1, 2 and 3 selected automatically from 10 choices.

Control rule annoyingly auto-populate on other forms

This problem has annoyed me for long too long, so I'll report it. My SharePoint-InfoPath form has a field for "Status" (complete or not complete). On the new-item and edit form I created a rule on the control, so if the status is set to 'complete' the Completion Date field gets set to now(). The problem is that this rule gets auto-populated to the control in Display view. I do not want the Completion Date to EVER get changed when someone opens a record in Display mode. If I edit or delete the rule in the Display form it gets changed in all the forms. I changed the control type on the Display form to a calculated value, but the rule still sticks to it. So far, opening a record in Display does not change the Completion Date. But I would feels much safer if I could get rid of that unwanted rule on the Display form. A formatting rule on the display form on the same control sets the background color in the Status calculated value on the Display form, based on the same condition that exists in the unwanted rule. So I feel like it is just luck that keeps the unwanted rule from activating in the Display form, when the formatting rule with the same condition does activate. Is there a way to get rid of this rule - just on the Display form (keep it on the other forms)? Alternately, is there a way to add a condition to the rule, so it would activate only "If form is new-item or edit"? Thanks Peter

Rules not working on check box

Hi,

I am trying to set various rules on a couple of check boxes that I have but they do not seem to be responding how I think they should. There are 2 check boxes which I don't want to be able to be selected at the same time (but can be both deselected, hence not using a radio button). I have therefore set a rule on each with the condition of itself being TRUE and the action being to set the other check box as FALSE.

When I test this though it has the opposite effect and sets both check boxes to TRUE when I select either of them. Very confused because there are no actions to ever set anything to TRUE so I don't see how it can be doing this.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Rules not working on a Rich text field

Hi, I have a Rich text field called "RequestDetails" and what to disable the submit button when this field is empty or has less than 4 letters. I have created a rule that sets a numeric field "ValidRequest" to 1 if "RequestDetails" contains " " and a rule to disable the submit button if "ValidAction = 0" which appears to be working as "ValidRequest" has a default value of 0. The situation I have is that the you are able to edit that field and potentially remove the text and when you do this the rule still believes that "RequestDetails" still contains " " when indeed it is either empty/blank or has no spaces in it. So ask is how can reset "ValidRequest" to 0 so that submit button is disabled if "RequestDetails" is amended . Any help greatly apricated as I am going round in circles, all my other field types which are type "String" work with a rules where they set other Valid states depending on whether they match the requirements or not. Clear value of a multi select field when another multi select field value changes

Hi, I use InfoPath 2013. I have 2 multi select fields. Practices multi select field has values: A, B, C Offerings multi select field has values: X, Y, Z - NOTE: This multi select field is hidden until C is chosen in Practices field. MY REQUIREMENT: If "Practices" = C, then "Offerings" show up and I select values in it. Next, if I select additional values in "Practices" along with C, the values previously chosen in "Offerings" should remain. If I uncheck C in "Practices", values in "Offerings" should be cleared MY ISSUE: I have set the Action rule on Practices field as this: Practices != SAP then set the Offerings value to blank. This is not working. If I select additional values in Practices, the Offerings values are getting cleared. If I uncheck C in Practices, offering is not getting cleared. Please help me fix the issue. Hope I am making sense of the above.

How to hide submit button based on calculated field?

Hi, My form is build with. I have two calculated fields in my form for e.g. all mandatory fields is filled out or a specific text string is contained in 'Sagsnavn'. Field name is ObligatoriskeOk and maximum calculated value is 3: number(boolean(string-length(dfs:dataFields/my:SharePointListItem_RW/my:Sagstype))) + number(boolean(string-length(dfs:dataFields/my:SharePointListItem_RW/my:Ansvarlig/pc:Person/pc:DisplayName))) + number(boolean(string-length(dfs:dataFields/my:SharePointListItem_RW/my:Title))) Field name is LogiskeOk and maximum calculated value is 1: number(boolean(contains(dfs:dataFields/my:SharePointListItem_RW/my:Title, "UDBUD AF"))) If the overall sum is not equal / <> to 3 then the submit button should be hidden. It seems like it is not possible to hide submit button based on a calculated value. Is that correct? Is there a workaround? Best regards Morten

Form load rules to set and appended multiple values in MSLB

This if for InfoPath 2013. Came across a previous thread for writing values from a MLSB to another control which was very helpful for understanding the double eval formula.

I am attempting to do something similar, but append the selection values within the MSLB control. Currently, I have 5 conditional form load rules which trigger and set a corresponding value in the MLSB. Given the logical nature of InfoPath rules, the 5 form load rules overwrite previously triggered values instead of appending them.

My initial thoughts were the double eval trick was the right direction, but instead of concatenating values as text into 1 value, I need them to be set as separate values within the MLSB.

Here's what I have so far in my formula: eval(eval(changeManagementImpacts_mch, 'concat(., ", Translations to be updated or created (French or Spanish)")'), "..")

", Translations to be updated..." is concatenated as text to my control's default value ("None Selected"), where instead I would like them to be set as separately selected values.

Anyone successfully done this before? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Some Control options are missing

Hi. I need to modify an existing sharepoint custom list to Brand up the form and include some images. So I'm using Infopath 2010 to modify the list - although once the form opens up in Infopath I'm finding that some of my control options are missing. The main one being the Option Button Control. I've found that I can input a tick box control and then change the control to an Option Button although it wont give me the option to select the amount of Option buttons I would like (5). Does anyone know how I can get the Control panel to be exactly the same as if I was creating the form in scratch on Infopath? Is there something I need to switch on or activate? Apologies if this is something simple - I've had a look on google and cant find the answer at all. Any advice would be greatly received. Thanks

Merge Repeating field Data into Text Field\Calculated Value

Is there a way to display the data from a repeating field into one control (textbox or calculated field) with data separated by a comma? Similar to what you can do when displaying it in a SharePoint list (merge data) from an InfoPath form.

Add Repeating table to a custom Infopth Form

Hi, I have create a list in SharePoint 2013 and basd on this list i have customized the Infopath Form (from within the list). so it is not a blank form (not a form library). now the problem is i cannot add a repeating table control just i am able to do this on a blank Form. Opening a Customized Infopath form via SP list do not give me the option to choose Add Attachment or add Repeating table. the only way around this is to create from scratch a new blank Infopath Form (Form library) & perform these actions. My question is is there a way to add a repeating table w/out creating anew Form from scratch using Form Library ? Thank you.

Enable Submit Button

I have a form with a disabled submit button until all fields are filled out (using "is blank" rules). When all the fields are filled out the Submit is still disabled until the user "leaves" the last field which is confusing for many. Simple example: First Name, Last Name, and Phone# fields are required to enable the Submit button. User fills out First, Last, and Phone but the cursor is still in the Phone# field, thus the submit is not enabled. As soon as the cursor "leaves" the phone field the submit button is then enabled. Is there a way to enable the submit button as soon as the user starts typing in the last required field, bypassing that the cursor has to leave the field after typing?

Attachement Control missing in Infopath 2013

Hi, I have Infopath 2013 (not online) and am trying to add 3 different attachment control over my Inforpath form. So the problem is that i am not bale to find the control that says "File attachment" . Is this a limitation over Infopath 2013 ? how do i add the control. i saw something over the internet called (Infopath add-ins) but i don't want to use any 3rd party tools to alter my Microsoft product. the problem is if i drag the attachment field into my form (attach 1, attach2, attach3) , run the form and add some attachment , the attachment will be duplicate . see screen shot included.
