Or check to see if a required field is filled out. Like - if the form can't be submitted w/out the Submitter being picked, and Submitter is blank.... Well, the form must be new, right?

Re: Views, Logic Help Needed

Hi Hilary... that's a good thought. I do have a hidden field which is capturing Username(). Plus I'm also forcing them to select the "submitter" of the form in a drop-down which is pulling a list of authorized submitters from a SP list. (The reason I do this is someone may be submitting on behalf of another and it is this drop-down that determines the approval workflow path).

I'm not aware of any method where I can determine if they're opening a new form versus one already filled out other than setting a field's value. (I'm thinking out loud as I write this). If I did that, I suppose I could have a rule that opens a particular view of the data subset if that field is a certain value and the user fits into a certain role.

That might work!

Re: Views, Logic Help Needed

Oh, tricky! So, when a user opens a form, do you know which hat they are wearing for that particular form? I guess if the form is new, they are, by default, acting as Manager, right? And if the form is not new, they are acting as a Financial Analyst? Are you tracking in the form who initially has submitted it? That may give you some info you need later in the process....

Views, Logic Help Needed

I'm struggling with the logic for a business process regarding an InfoPath form for new hires that can contain sensitive information.

The access to this form for entering and submission is restricted to managers only. Once the form has gone through the approval process, each division in the organization has people in the role of financial analysts that need to view a limited subset of the data. This part of the functionality is pretty straight forward. I've created a page view of the form with the subset of data and created the role of financial analysts and set that view via rules on form open.

It gets convoluted when a manager that needs to fill out and submit the form is also a financial analyst for the division. They need to be able to fill out and submit the form for their new hires, but they also need to be able to only see that limited subset of data for submissions by other managers within their division. And to further add to the confusion, each of the financial analysts only need to see the limited subset of data for new hires within their division only.

If it helps, this form is already injected with qRules 5.2. If there might be a method using qRules.

Wracking my brain trying to figure out the logic of how to do this. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bill
