You would need to "simulate" these. You can accomplish this by:

(a) using something like Active Directory where you can detect which group the user belongs to

(b) store the user/group info in the main data source, for example, currentUserGroup and currentUserAlias.

(c) then using those two fields, you can implement conditional formatting on your InfoPath form, for example, to hide or show sections as needed.

So, to illustrate:

User John Doe opens the form

The form has logic to detect that John Doe belongs to the ITGroup

Then the form has conditional formatting to show the ITGroup section to the user and hide the other sections.

If you don't have an active directory web service, then you could have a Sharepoint list that has a column for the user alias and a column for the group the user belongs to.

Good luck!

Re: Enabling views changing based on User account?

Hi Ernesto,

In my InfoPath 2010 form, the "user role" command is disable(appearing) under "Data Tab" even after adding also. I wanted to add user role. Please guide me. Or else is there any other way to do this.

this is looking similar to my requirement. Still i want to explain you in detail. I have two views in my form(InfoPath). There are some groups like ITGroup, HRIndiaGroup, HRUsGroup, FacilGroup. Certain groups who has access to particular view, should be able to see only that view in the browser.

For each view you can select whether to display it in the ribbon. So this means the view is hidden for all users or displayed for all users.

As far as I know, InfoPath provides no out of the box functionality to display or hide a view in the ribbon according to a user role.

Re: Enabling views changing based on User account?

Exactly, sorry i wasn't clear about that.

So is it possible?

note: i'm publishing it as web form

Thanks

Re: Enabling views changing based on User account?

Oh I see.
