InfoPath has poor print formatting. Here are some ideas to help you:

Use InfoPath 2007 which includes better support for fields in print headers and footers. I assume you are already using this.

Use a separate Print View which is simpler and has data that fits on one page or has page breaks inserted into it to separate sections. Simplest approach. No code required.

Add code to your form to programmatically insert page breaks depending on amount of items in repeating groups, etc. Requires code. Matt Faus has a blog post an detailed example of how to do this.

Print through Word (Microsoft has an example in the IP2003 SDK). Word has great print support. However, exporting your XML to Word is a lot of work.

Save your XML to a relational database (using a Web service) and use a Word plugin like xPertDocs to create print summaries. More complex because you need to change your solution architecture.

Of course, you can export the InfoPath form as PDF but that won't help you format it since InfoPath just exports an image.

Hopefully, this summary helped you a little bit ...

In other words its not a true WYSIWYG output. However is there any known work around to get better formatting of your hard copy version.

Doug
