However, when I checked a drop down list and a list box, both of them had the option of being disabled. You should be able to simply disable them based on the user role in the condition. That will leave them greyed out, though, which may or may not be desirable.

Re: restricting access once submitted\closed

It's a pre existing form created a couple of years ago with a lot of data relating to it and i've been asked to restrict all write permissions once the state is closed to a certain user role. so all users can re open the form but not write to it.

Re: restricting access once submitted\closed

I don't think so -- Expression boxes are always read only, so those would be great for your read only view. I would think that if you only want people to be able to read the fields that text boxes or expression boxes would work? Do you have something particular you need to display in that view that can't go into one of those controls?

Re: restricting access once submitted\closed

Ok thank you so much i will try this.

I don't believe you can add rules to a view. What you may wish to do is create two views of the form -- one where all the fields are displayed in text boxes that have Read Only selected under Display in their properties. The other view could be the one with the full functionality. Make the Read Only view the default and make sure neither view is displayed on the menus (View Properties/General tab). Then set an Open rule for the form (in IP2007 that is under Tools / Form Options / Open and Save /Open Behavior). You can have the action set to switch to your full functionality view and your conditions could be something like if the form is in progress or the form is closed and the person belongs to the user role.

Let me know if you need more information, okay?

restricting access once submitted\closed

Hi guys

I have been surfing this forum for a little while now and have found it very useful.

I am trying to create a view so when the form status changes from “in progress” to “closed” and get submitted only certain user roles can write to the form. Can you add rules to a form view or do you need to create a rule dependent on the form status then lock down every field in the view to all other users?

Thanks
