Often you either have to set a default so that they will pass validation or you need to do your own validation. So do not set them as required but check them manually in your form to ensure that the user completes them when necessary via conditional rules.

Another way to test is to add buttons to navigate all of your views and then browse them to find the field, but that should not be necessary.

Required field in the current view

Hello.

[ InfoPath 2007, Web compatible, No code ]

I have the common problem 'required fields in other views'. I guess most of you know what does this mean. I can't submit my form, because there are some required fields in the other views.

I tried the most obvious solutions - remove the 'required' attribute from the field and try to validate it using rules and etc. This doesn't work for me, because of the simple fact I cannot determine which view is currently loaded. I have read a couple of threads here regarding this matter, and none of them suggests how exactly to determine the currently loaded view. No, I can't use code-behind.

If only there was a way to determine one of these:

1. If a particular field is read-only

2. The name of the current view

3. If a particular field is visualized in the view

Or if a field could have a different default value, in each view...

Any ideas? I am kind of desperate here... Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks!
