It will probably allow you to submit. Download a trial if you want too test.

Default Person/Group field to a SharePoint Group

Hello,

I've created a custom form for a SharePoint 2010 list in InfoPath 2010. I'm trying to set the default value of one of the Person/Group fields to a custom SharePoint group, which exists on the same site where the list resides. This default value is for when a new item is being added to the list. I'm familiar with using the AccountId to set a default value for this field type by using the domain\network ID syntax, but I'm not sure if the same logic can be applied to setting a SharePoint group as the default value, since I have not had any luck on searching for a solution on this so far.

As a long shot, I tried setting it by using the Display Name field, and while it looked like that worked since the group appeared with the underline indicating it was recognized, the form wouldn't submit properly claiming that I had a validation error with the field. As a test I deleted the default entry, and re-added it using the lookup selector on the form, and that allowed it to submit. Unfortunately my attempt to take the easy way out didn't quite work out for me. :)

At this point I am at a bit of a loss if this is possible, since the various search queries I have tried have not yielded any insight into setting a SharePoint group value for this field type. Any advice/guidance is much appreciated, and if there is any additional information I can provide on the form, the list, or the group feel free to ask.
