My default IE opens the 32bit version. When I opened 64bit IE on my machine and tryed to open Infopath form template from SharePoint - no go! I get the same error this user gets!! I'm betting he is opening 64 IE so all he has to do is open 32 bit and this error message goes away. Will advise.

Hilary thank you for your help thus far! :)

Re: 2007 Form template will not open for user who recently upgraded to Windows 7

That's a good idea. The one UNIQUE thing about this user's machines is that it is 64bit Win 7 and IE9. All other users with Win 7 have 32bit machines....

I am the ONLY other use with same 64bit combo. Will pursue and report back.

Update1: I compared IE9 Internet Options settings between 64bit machines and the only settings that were different were on Security tab. Mine was enabled on "Enable Protected Mode" on all four zones; Internet, Local, Trusted, and Restricted, whereas his was only enabled on Interent. I changed his to match mine. User is gone for the day so will have him test the changes tomorrow.

Another thing I will try is to have user logon from a different machine to determine if it's a machine problem or a user Profile problem.

Re: 2007 Form template will not open for user who recently upgraded to Windows 7

Wow - I'm not sure on this one. You've ruled out the machine, since you can log in as other users and not have a problem, so it seems likely it is something in the profile or the IE settings. Painful, but you could always compare the IE settings between a profile on the machine that works and the one that does not.

Re: 2007 Form template will not open for user who recently upgraded to Windows 7

Yes.

Re: 2007 Form template will not open for user who recently upgraded to Windows 7

And opening the existing XML from SharePoint also results in SharePoint trying to open the form in the browser?

Re: 2007 Form template will not open for user who recently upgraded to Windows 7

I didn't expect those to work either - just grasping at straws.

Had user try your idea - open InfoPath app via sharepoint url to template or to an existing .xml. Both opened fine and new template submitted fine. User still can NOT re-open the submitted form from SharePoint but can through InfoPath.

My full trust forms are signed by me, the user who created them.

Re: 2007 Form template will not open for user who recently upgraded to Windows 7

Well - I'd expect a form submitted from a template opened locally to fail in that manner - it will have the href for the template used to create it.
