Basically, every time a form is submitted the integer is submitted as a new item in the list, with another column showing its type.

Therefore, in the InfoPath form I can filter the dropdown to only show the IDs where they don't match the items in the forms list. So, "(List1)UID is not equal to (List2)UID", however it doesn't bring back the correct results.

If I can't get it working I will just have to tell the client it is impossible and that InfoPath isn't that powerful!

Re: Reuse deleted ID

I can't think of a good or safe way to do this. I personally would not recommend this. I don't know how you would track which IDs have been deleted, and don't think any benefit would outweigh the amount of effort and potential pitfalls.

Reuse deleted ID

Hey all,

I'm publishing InfoPath forms to a SharePoint list.

The first thing I have to clear up is I want to reuse an ID from my own created column, not the default 'ID' column. Let's call it UniqueID

So, say for instance an item is created in the list and then a particular user deletes the item because they no longer want it, how would I reuse that UniqueID?

The form automatically calculates the max(UniqueID)+1 on form submit, and that's fine to use, though I want to use a dropdown box to overwrite the UniqueID with one that has been deleted.

The only way I can think of making this possible is if a query calculates the difference between UniqueIDs where it is greater than 1.

It may be impossible altogether, but I'm just pondering over the thought as it would be a great asset and the numbers wouldn't stack so high if people made mistakes.

Thank you,

Matt
