Yes, you can map an InfoPath form to a SharePoint list. There are two techniques:

CAML - out-of-box, but somewhat complex to implement

qRules - third party plugin (free trial), but easier to create/maintain

Qdabra has given free weekly webinars this year showing both techniques.

Here's one from last January showing CAML with a form that submits to a task list: http://youtu.be/4oQ7QdpYdx8

Here's another one using CAML from March: http://youtu.be/Fv-J8Qm4UeY

Here's one showing qRules: http://youtu.be/WftCp_EbcCU

Good luck!

There is no InfoPath control called a "recurring section" so I will assume you mean the semantically similar (but not equal) "repeating sections".

What are you trying to do with your form?

If you are attempting to edit the data and map it back to the lists, you can use default values to copy the items from your secondary list to your main list (you'll need to filter based on the row number). You can also copy the non-repeating item into the repeating items. Then, you'll need to use CAML or qRules to map back to the list. Lots of sample on how to do this. Have you seen our weekly webinars on Youtube.com/Qdabra?

If you are merely trying to display the data, you can just add the non-repeating item into the secondary repeating section and it will show up for all rows.

Good luck!

question about sharepoint lists with recurring section

Hi,

I am trying to create a form that has a recurring section and a non recurring section. The non recurrig section is the title or name which the user inputs one time and that value is tied to each row in the recurriing section. i am using sharepoint lists for my data source. What is the best way to do this? i was thinking about creating a text box that was not tied to the sharepoint lists and map it to each section but i am not certain how to do it. Anyone have a good way in doing this/

Thanks,

michael
