If not, I would try that first and map the promoted properties to site columns.

The problem with form libraries is that each column has a unique GUID per that form library. Content types use site columns which are not specific to form libraries.

Updating a document library column on submission when the submission library is different than the library where the form template is published

I'm using an Infopath form template to submit a form to a SharePoint document library. In addition I want to update a column named Status in that document library when the form submits. The idea is that it will default to open when the form is initially submitted, and then once the form has been processed, the user can open it from the doument library, change the status to closed, and this will reflect in the Status column of the document library so whe can keep track of which forms still need to be processed, and which forms have already been processed. This works fine as long as the document library that I am submitting to is the same document library that I publish the form template to. However, when I try to submit the form to a different document library from the one the template is published at, the column won't update.

To simplify things a little bit:

Form Template is published to Document Library A

Form Template submits to Document Library B

Document Library B has a column named Status.

When Form Template submits, the Status column on Document Library B is updated with the value of the Status field on the form

This works if I submit to Document Library A in step 2; however, when I submit to Document Library B, it doens't work. I think this is because I set up the columns on the Publishing Wizard, but there is no equivalent way to do it when I'm creating a data connection to submit to, so in this scenario the columns are always referring to Document Library A rather than Document Library B.
