I have several forms that use a History. I put mine on a separate view and use a 'Tab' called History to switch views. You can get an idea of how to do tabs by looking at the 'Chrome Demonstration form'

1. Determine what fields you want to capture as part of your History
2. Create a new view for your History. This needs to contain:
a. Repeating Section
b. Table in the repeating section to layout your history fields
c. A new History field for each regular field you want to capture in the history
3. Create a button or tabs (you can see a tab setup in the Chrome Demonstration Form) to switch back and forth between your regular view and history view
4. Set your History to be populated on your Approve/Reject submit.

I have attached a sample form that you can use. I also have a detailed instruction doc but can't upload it.

Re: InfoPath - Comment/Discussion/Approval History

I found the following Change History XTP - http://www.infopathdev.com/files/folders/examples/entry66379.aspx

It's pretty good, yet I might need to tweak it or create my own version. There is a field in the field list called ActiveRow. If you view it on a form, it's default value is 50. Each time you press the Last Form Change Save button, the value in the Active Row decreases by 1. How is this achieved?

InfoPath - Comment/Discussion/Approval History

All,

How can I create/use an InfoPath (2010) web based form to record comment or discussion history?

I want to use an InfoPath form for a request scenario i.e. Software Development Request (Improve out current software ideas)

The basic steps would be 1.initial request 2.Evaluation A 3,Further Information 4. Evaluation B. 5.Approve/Reject

The basic form setup would be a table with username,date/time,details (Details could be written, screenshots, url links, who knows).

After each submission, I'd like the previous details 'recorded' as a history of the discussion, comments. Thus this form could go backwards and forwards many times. Attachments may be added etc. This history should be publicly available in the form and able to grow i.e. not a fixed number of rows within a table. The comment history section ideally within in the same view.

How can I easily accomplish this?

Thanks

W
