First of all, let me start out by saying that it is exciting to have you help out. In learning InfoPath over the 6 months, I have referenced your posts time and time again to help me in designing my forms. What I have discovered in the last day while trying to trouble shoot this issue is the following:
· We created a brand new, simple, InfoPath form and published it as a template to the SharePoint document library.

· When clicking “new” in the document library, we are still getting the unspecified error. As a result, we believe the issue is more about the set-up of InfoPath vs. how the form was built

· When the affected users goes to any other SharePoint site on our network that has InfoPath as a template within a document library, they are still getting the unspecified error

We double checked the installation of MS Office to ensure that all components/features have been installed. All options of the MS Office install has been turned on.

If you have any ideas on how to trouble shoot this issue, it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: unspecified error when opening new infopath form from sharepoint

Hi -

It almost sounds as if the form was not published correctly.

I need some help please. I have created an InfoPath 2007 form and published it to a SharePoint 2007 site as a Shared Libarary Template. When I went to see if the form worked on some of the users computers, it works on some users machines, and unfortunately on some users machines it didn't work. The two most common errors I am getting are (1) Unspecified error and (2) The Following file is either missing or not part of the form template.

For both error messages, the error is occurring when the user clicks on "New" within the Shared Documents Library. The form downloads to the users computer and starts to open. While opening, the error message appears.

For the "Unspecified error" error message, I have discovered that if I put the file somewhere in a shared file directory on our network, the users can open the file without issue. The error only occurs when they try to access the file with SharePoint.

For the Missing File issue, when the users open the file from the SharePoint, it is indicating it is missing a .dll. When I had the user try and access the file on a shared directory on our network, the users get the following error message. "InfoPath cannot build the Visual Basic or C# code. The Visual Basic or C# project for this form template cannot be found."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Compatability = InfoPath
