A lot can be accomplished via code, but it's not easy.

How long is your source list? Depending on how many customer numbers there are, perhaps a dropdown would be feasible?

Modal-ish Search Window Pop up from Icon in IP Form

Not sure where to post or how to ask... I guess that mean "General".

I have an InfoPath 2010 Form. There is a field where a user can enter a Customer Number but typically they won't know it. I placed a search icon next to the field and want a modal type screen to pop up when clicked, that allows the user to enter any part of the customer name, see results and select the correct item. When they click on it - the modal closes and the data they clicked on is displayed in the field. This data comes from a seperate list. I thought I could use search external list but can't get that to work and not sure if thats the right solution. Found a rather long blog with instructions how to Open a SharePoint Modal Dialog from an InfoPath Form with 5 parts. At the end of part 1 my code did not test out. 102 errors. Directions were a bit vague I am guess I wasn't inserting code in the proper place.

Any advice would be great.

CSigler
