I tried using the people picker to do this but either I just don't know how to configure it or it won't do what I want. I have a simple form that a manager will be assigned directly to one of his employees to complete.

What I want to do is have the member's of the A.d. group that all of these employees are in to be populated into a list, dropdown or other so that the manager can select in the form who to assign it to. This will populate another field that will be used to populate a variable in the workflow that is used to assign the task.

Is it possible?
