The Created by query was retreiving data from the library on submit. The problem was, the library default view was set to show items where Type = mdebit, and Created by = [Me]. The default view in the library was only supposed to show users those items submitted by themselves and were mdebit requests. Phone_Address type were shown in a separate public view but the data was not a part of the default view. What was happening was the query was retreiving the data, but only from the default view. So until there was an item in the MDebit view, there was no data in Created by. To resolve, I have set the default to My Documents, which displays all data, no matter the request type.

Re: Problem with Receive Data Query not working for condition

I'm still kind of confused - but it sounds like you have things worked out?

Re: Problem with Receive Data Query not working for condition

Okay, doesn't look like I can query a view but... everything works without error if I change the default view to My Documents.

Re: Problem with Receive Data Query not working for condition

That theory definitely makes sense. So the default view in the library is to show only those items submitted by [Me] and Type = mdebit. There are currently no items in the default view. The first form I submitted is type=Phone_Address. The query doesn't work but it does submit to the library. When I submit type=mdebit, the query works, as usual. Then I submit type=Phone_Address and now the query works. So maybe the problem is that there has to be something in the default view first before the query works. Since I have shared views for both mdebit and Phone_Address can I create a query for the mdebit view and a query for the Phone_Address view?

Re: Problem with Receive Data Query not working for condition

Thanks Hilary. Here you go.

Re: Problem with Receive Data Query not working for condition

What you've said here points to the data you're pulling back from the server, and not from the actual infopath form itself.

The reason I say that is because it works the first few times, and you've compared the code from when it works and when it stop working, and it's all the same... so the *only* thing which has changed is the data, right?

You can test out the theory by removing all your entries from the document library - the form will probably start working again.

If that happens, use it till it breaks again, and then look at the very first entry in your default view on the library. There's probably something wrong with it, so the next trick will be to find out why.

One possibility is that another user has an old version of the template and is submitting bad data.

Re: Problem with Receive Data Query not working for condition

Feel free to attach your template to a reply under the Options tab if you'd like me to take a quick look at your logic.

Re: Problem with Receive Data Query not working for condition

I've been all over this form and i've confirmed it is not the character count in the field. For some reason, the Created by query is just not stable. I don't know if the form is corrupt or what but now when the type = mdebit, the Created by query is not working.

Re: Problem with Receive Data Query not working for condition

Well, to be clear, if you set the field's value after you submit the XML to SharePoint, the next time you open it, the value won't be what you've just set it to....
