It's a bit unclear above. To be clear:

1. You are the form designer, so you have a the XSN on your local machine.

2. You open it in design mode and make changes, then save the XSN to your local machine.

3. You go to File > Publish and publish the form to the SharePoint form library.

Then you repeat as needed.

I don't think I've ever heard of saving the XSN directly to its SharePoint location. You definitely want to Publish to the Sharepoint location, though.

Does that make sense?

Saving Source File on Sharepoint

Hello,

I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on saving the IP source file on the sharepoint (as a doc) site it publishes to? We thought it would be handy to save the main IP form on the sharepoint for furture people who may come along and need to update items. However, I have been running into a particular issue that I think may be caused by saving to, and publishing from, the xsn on sharepoint.

This isn't easy to explain concisely, so I apologize if this is hard to follow.

I have a few data connections, but one of them doesn't seem to like it if I've saved the form to my computer prior to saving to sharepoint and publishing. I have a data connection to a sharepoint list that filters and populates a dropdown list with name options. Because the data connection isn't always needed when the form is opened, I set a date field to query for the data when the date is entered. It works wonderfully the first time I publish... BUT, this is a giant form in the throws of being built so I often am updating, saving and republishing. Twice now, after updating other items on the form, saving (often to my computer and then to the sharepiont doc library) and republishing, the query doesn't run. I get an error that states the sharepoint couldn't be found to pull the data from. If I open the form in IP design to check on the data connection and modify it, I get a similar error stating the sharepoint location couldn't be found.
I end up having to recreate the connection and reconnect the fields (right now as I test it is only three, but will eventually be around 30 using the same data)

I'm trying to figure out the cause of this continual issue. Is it using the date field to query? Does it have something to do with how the list I'm querying is built in sharepoint? Is it because we're saving to a sharepoint doc library and publishing from there?

Thoughts anyone on saving source doc on sharepoint or has anyone had the issue before?

Thanks!

Jen
