Perhaps this would be a good reason for us to add a Join command to our qRules suite. We'll take it under consideration.

Thanks hugely for the guidance over this element. I'm certain that many people will have used this as I have to get things working correctly, and to concatenate a bunch of variables into a single field, so thanks for the help. For myself I've used it to create a list of email addresses which I then swing through into SharePoint and use in a workflow (better formatting, layout and options etc in SP Designer than through IP).

However there is one thing that does worry be about this, namely that as soon as I add this processing onto the 2 fields in the form, I get a Processing error appear in the Rule Inspector for the Calculate Default Values and Actions elements. I can still save the form and publish it ok (I think) and if I look at the design checker it doesn't throw a hissy fit (which is great), so is there any concern in having this processing error?

Do you get one in your situation and do other users such as Jen B get one? I'd appreciate any feedback people have over this, and like to know the root cause if you can second guess the problem.

Again thanks for the help.

I also just got a chance to test the concatenating with the multi-select field. Getting error...

The formula is in like this: substring(eval(eval((.[. !=""], 'concat(";", .)'), ".."), 2)

substring(eval(eval((ImpctAudBllng | ImpctAudBllngAllnc | ImpctAudBllngEmpAcct | ImpctAudBllngNE)[. != ""], 'concat(",", .)'), ".."), 2)

Not sure if it's a formula issue with me typing something wrong, a placement issue (putting in the Default Value field of text box), or something else bizarre.
