That validation rule is written on the repeating table field (field2). I need it to trigger on the textbox field that isn't in the repeating table. The repeating table will be hidden in the form, so red hashes or screentips on the repeating table won't do.

Need someone to see a validation error if the entries in field1 (not in repeating table, filled out by user) don't match the values in field 2 (in repeating table, data pulled from web service on form load for validation purposes from another system). It just seems to throw the validation error every time though, whether it matches or not.

Re: Validating a field against all rows in a repeating table

I've attached a sample xsn. Is this closer to what you were looking for?

Validating a field against all rows in a repeating table

Let's say I want to validate my entry in textbox1 agaist the results in a repeating table that contains one column. The validation rule must validate textbox1 against EVERY row in the single column (textbox2) to see if it's a match or not.

For some reason this just won't work. It throws the validation error EVERY time, whether it matches or not.
