Is there any way to calculate the number of lines in a given repeating section. Might seem a bit old-school, but thinking of possibly counting the lines and working out a formula to "guesstimate" when a section will go over the max number that will fit onto a page, hence triggering a page-break. I'm VERY new to XPATH, hence the query.

Re: Page breaks - can they be more controlled

If you want to conditionally add or remove page breaks, I believe inserting them in a section and then creating show/hide rules on the section should work for adding/removing the page breaks.

With respect to detecting when a section will be larger than a printed page is going to be pretty difficult I think. Unless you can ensure that a section will be a known fixed height there isn't an easy way to detect something like this.

Not quite sure if I'm answering your questions, so feel free to clarify some more.

Page breaks - can they be more controlled

In a twist on the usual "page break after each repeating section", I need to accomplish the following:

I would like to implement a risk assessment form using Infopath 2010 form. The controls to input each activity is contained in a repeating section. My problem comes in when printing, as the section gets split up across pages. I need infopath to fit as many sections onto a page as possible, but insert a page break when a section will be split. Some of the key points:

1) The sections can expand/contract, so cannot force it to split a 3 sections etc. as some controls might take up a lot of space, hence only 1 section on a page, some could be smaller, hence 3-4 sections on a page

2) I cannot have a page break after each section, too much waste.

Is there any way to accomplish this? I've attached the Infopath form I'm using, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm still new to this, so feel free to critisise and correct me. There are two views, the "PrintRAMain" view is the one I need to have page breaks in , the other views are for entering data and won't be printed out. Still early stages, so very rough.
