Because of the way the multi-select text is stored, in order to filter and select it you'd have to parse it.

Change your form to a regular InfoPath form library and use a structure that has a Funds (group, non-repeating) with a Fund (group, repeating) underneath it and a Name (field) underneath that. When user's submit your form, map your values to a separate SharePoint list and do it in a way that has Highbridge Capital, Blackrock, Fidelity, Appollo Strategic Funds all on separate rows but with an ID column that has the A value or the B value. Now, you can filter using the rule you want and pull back the ID value for A.

To map your repeating section to a ShP list take a look at our qRules common library. There are videos that show how to do this. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to set it up. Let us know if you need help.

Good luck!

Filter a repeating table based on SP Lookup list

So I am trying to filter a SP list based on user inputs to the form.

My main data connection has the inputs for filtering - Start Dte, End Dte, and Fund. Fund is a lookup to a sharepoint list with id being the value and fund as the display name.

My secondary data source is to a SharePoint List called AIUpdates. Fields in AIUpdates are Publish Date(date) details (multi line text), and Funds (multi select lookup to another list).

The user can either enter dates or funds to filter the list. Once they enter the information, the click submit which switches the view in infopath to the results view. I drag the secondary data source onto the page. I change the control type of the funds to a combo box and apply filter criteria. This forces the correct display of funds to be the display name instead of the id.

I apply a rule to the entire repeating section for start and end dates. When true i hide the section. This works great. However, I am not able to apply this logic to the Funds. Since it is a multi select lookup field it is a repeating table within my repeating section and the rule does not contain or not equal to doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone know how to filter the records based on a multi select lookup field?

As an example, i might have the following two records in my AI Updates table

Title Publsih Date Funds Details

A 2/28/2012 Highbridge Capital; Blackrock text about investing mentioning the 2 funds

B 12/1/2011 Fidelity; Appollo Strategic funds text about investing mentioning 2 different funds.

The user may select Blackrock in their drop down. Then receive just record A.
