A registry setting us used to perform the redirect. Sounds like this registry setting may have been removed.

Here are the symptoms...

User tries to open a client based infopath form (that was previously working) as a regular user. They get a pop-up box talking about making sure the client application is installed.

Admin tries to edit the form document library - advanced settings - (Edit Template). Admin gets a pop-up box talking about application not being installed.

Admin tries to open the form via SPD... Popup box talks about infopath.exe denied execution.

I have bypassed some of the initial problems by editing the core.js file.

The specific part is the function : createnewdocumentwithredirect.

This now bypasses the check : IsClientAppInstalled.

So I have deduced that one of two things are happening...

1. The ActiveX component SharePoint.OpenXMLDocument is being blocked

2. IE is being denied the right to open the user's registry (to check for installed components).

Anyone else run into this issue before?
