I'm looking to do something similar. I have an employee status change form I created where you can search for the employee you're looking for through search fields (screen shot below). Any recommendations you can make on building in the ability to throw a wildcard in would be helpful (i.e., if you're searching by Manager Last Name = Gregg, typing in Gre* and getting anyone in the table whose last name starts with Gre).

Thanks!

Re: how to create a wild card parameterized query for a dropdown control?

yes. I have read this link before. Now the problem becoms how I can invoke the stored procedure and save the returned result into an xml file. Then the rest part is set. By the way, I am wondering if there is a simpler way to set up a parameteriized query directly for the dropdown list control. Thanks in advance for you advice! --- William

Re: how to create a wild card parameterized query for a dropdown control?

funny you should ask. Then you can return partial matches, and return values for all the other fields you want populated. If this is not an option You may need 2 fields to make this work, one for the search (wild card) and one for the results. the results will filter results based on your value in the search, but instead of equals you will use contains. Then apply rules to populate other form fields

how to create a wild card parameterized query for a dropdown control?

Hello all,

I have a a dropdown list control bound to the main data source in a SQL server. I would like to make the wild card query to the table by Supplier Name say Abc* and then pick only one record from the result set. In addition, the other fields in the form will be updated based on the record selected at the previous step. How can I do this? I am new to the Infopath. Thanks in advance.
