Qdabra has developed a tool specifically to enable doing this:

http://www.qdabra.com/en/products/ExcelToInfoPath.aspx

It should even be possible to set it up to deposit the generated InfoPath documents right into your SharePoint library. Have a look!

Re: Transfer data from excel to customised Infopath form

It sounds complicated and I think you may need a developer - but maybe you should skip using InfoPath altogether and get the developed to write something to load straight into SharePoint....

Re: Transfer data from excel to customised Infopath form

The customised InfoPath form is in SharePoint. I receive the data in excel in an email & currently manually copy it on to InfoPath form in SharePoint. Both the forms (excel & InfoPath) have similar fields. InfoPath form has different views though. If the data can't be transferred in SP, I am looking to transfer it to standalone InfoPath form & then upload it in SP.

I am trying to get away from the cut & paste (unless I could cut & paste the whole form which I don't think is possible) as want to make it as automated as possible.

I am not a developer and have basic coding skills only. I wanted to find out what are the exact steps involved & how complex is the work? If I can't do it myself then I will look for a developer & the cost involved in getting the work done.

Thank you in advance for your help!

At the moment the original data is fed into excel by a 3rd party & sent it to me in excel. I then have to manually fill the data from excel to Infopath form in SP. Is there a way that data from excel can automatically be exported to a customised InfoPath form? The fields in both the forms are similar.

I would appreciate a quick reply & thank you in advance.
