Please have a look at:

http://www.infopathdev.com/forums/t/4332.aspx

And outside of this forum --- please look at the following links for further information:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sql_protocols/archive/2009/10/19/selectively-using-secure-connection-to-sql-server.aspx
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189067.aspx
http://www.codingforums.com/archive/index.php/t-119142.html

Another suggestion is to use RSA encryption. In this case I would recommend the following links from MSDN:

Encrypting
and Decrypting Configuration Sections
Importing
and Exporting Protected Configuration RSA Key Containers

Hope you will find useful information.

Regards,

Re: Connection strings in InfoPath Manifest file

Qdabra's DBXL includes a ready-made generalized webservice (QueryDB) for querying SQL Server databases. It was designed with precisely this requirement in mind. It can save you time and money compared to writing your own webservice.

We developed a tool which connects SqlServer using server-side authentication. While setting Dataconnection, after entering database password, i get "The selected database connection saves passwords in a plain text file. Because plain text files are unencrypted and because database connection is available to anyone using your InfoPath form, this action is not recommended. Do you still want to continue?". And Storing passwords in Plain text is not acceptable for our Architecture team. Writing webservice to connect database is not an option as it is not acceptable for our timelines.

Is there an way we could encrypt connectionstring in InfoPath??any workarounds??
Please suggest.
