I actually would only have to correct 5 files, so how exactly would I change them manually? could u describe the steps?
I'm fairly new to infopath. I'm using 2007. And our files aren't on sharepoint.
As I mentioned, I have already attempted to change the path by opening it in notepad, but this didn't work.
I changed the path at href to the new server path

Is there something I'm missing here??
The cost isn't an issue, only that it would take forever through our IT dept to get approval - bureaucracy!! I would have to log an IT job and wait for them determine the priority.. And i thought about buying it myself, but I have no permissions to install anything! Not even java and flash updates. I'm hoping to avoid those avenues .. Thanks again

Re: Templates moved to new shared directory, now old forms will not open (template not found)

The Modify PI tool exists because as far as we know, there isn't any other simple way to do this. It's probably your best bet. The alternatives are to modify all of the XMLs by hand or write your own utility to modify all of them, but time is money, and this tool will definitely save you a lot of time compared to either of those options.

Re: Templates moved to new shared directory, now old forms will not open (template not found)

FYI: I also tried changing the href= location in notepad, but this didnt solve it... please help

Re: Templates moved to new shared directory, now old forms will not open (template not found)

Hello, did anyone happen to get a solution to this probelm?
In our office we have used InfoPath 2010 in a limited fashion, mainly for creating forms that ‘submit’ via e-mail to staff members. We had several (30+) of these forms on a network drive. About 2 weeks ago, the server was changed/upgraded and in the process its actual file path changed. The directory structure was kept the same, only the first part of the file path name changed ( from \FSserv01\ to \FSSsv02\ ).

Forms that are opened from this new location and sent will open fine for the recipient(s). Old forms that were sent when the templates were on the old server won’t open. We get a series of messages:

*Form is opening (showing the old file path in the msg box)
*InfoPath could not open the form (again showing the old file path)
* InfoPath could not open the file because the template could not be found (showing the old file path).

I have found that if the user saves the .xml form to their desktop, then opens it with Notepad, they can see the old file path. If they manually change that first part to the correct path and re-save it, the form will then open correctly. Unfortunately, they have hundreds of forms that still point to this old path.

Is there any way to tell InfoPath where the new form is located other than my cumbersome workaround? I tried to search the site (and Google) but surprisingly found very little.

Thanks!
